How To Care for Wool Diaper Covers

Wool diaper covers should be hand washed in cold water. Use the wool wash of your choice. I recommend Eucalan. After washing, squeeze out the excess water but do not twist or wring. You can roll the cover in a clean towel to remove excess water. Lay flat to dry.
The lanolin in wool makes the fabric water resistant. It will need to be replenished from time to time. You will know this if you start having leaks. To "lanolinize" your cover dissolve 1-2 teaspoons of lanolin in a cup of warm water. This can be accomplished by microwave and then allow the solution to cool. Place washed cover in a basin or sink and pourthe lanolin mixture over it. Gently agitate it and turn the cover inside out so both surfaces are treated. Squeeze out water and lay flat to dry.
